Customer Complaint

Today, you’ll be practising a skill that can be very valuable, although most people don’t enjoy using it, making complaints.

There are a few things to remember when making a complaint. Here are five tips to make your complaint more likely to succeed.

1- Start out positively, briefly describing your relationship with the company and your expectations about the product or service.
2- Write clearly and to the point.
3- Try not to use emotional language and stay respectful.
4- Tell them what you want as a solution.
5- Start and finish positively.

Writing a Complaint Letter

Think about a product or a service you paid for recently that you were disappointed with. Write a few notes about the product and how it was disappointing. Then, write a short complaint letter following the five tips above. Don’t forget to include a greeting and a sign off just like you would in an actual complaint letter.

If you can’t think of anything that disappointed you recently, you can use the following scenario: You and a few friends recently helped your sister to move into her new place. After a long day of moving in you ordered some pizzas, drinks and sides. When the food arrived the pizza was only lukewarm, there were no sauces or napkins that you asked for and one of the drinks was completely missing.
