Being able to describe things we see in front of us is always valuable. But when we do it in a foreign language, we often only speak about the most noticeable things, and we overlook many smaller details.
Describing in Detail
Take a look at the image below and start by describing it in a few sentences. You can either record yourself or write it down. After the first few general sentences, it’s time to go into more detail. Talk about similarities and differences in different parts of the photo, the lighting and colours, objects in the photo, etc.
When you run out of ideas, try to write five more sentences.
If you want a bit of extra challenge, you can try to use the following words.
symmetry (n.) or symmetrical (adj.)
illuminated (adj.)
flat (and.) and sloping (adj.)
facade (n.)
